Protuberant ears are evident.

 Protuberant or Outstanding Ears:
Otoplasty for outstanding or protuberant ears is done with an incision behind the ear.  The ear is then folded along the natural line of the midportion of the ear known as the antihelix.  The sutures hold the ear for a period of three weeks.  After the three week interval scar tissue develops and maintains the postion of the ear.  The ear is repositioned closer to the head.

Irregular Ear Deformity:

There are multiple deformities of the ear.  This case shown below illustrates a deformithy referred to as "Lop Ear".  This was corrected by combining many of the techniques of otoplasty.  In this case the carilage was removed and replace in an inverted fashion and the posterior ear was supported by another batten of cartilage.

Total Ear Reconstruction for microtia,

Total ear reconstrujction is done in four stages.  The first is the largest surgery.   In the first stage three rib cartilage segments are removed and fabricated into an ear form.  This segment is placed beneath the skin .  The next three stages are less involved than the first stage and are for the most part done as outpatient surgeries.
